Baodao Village #1 寶島一村

I went to see this stage play last night at the opera hall at CKS. It’s about the life of a military dependents village, and the story spans decades of Taiwanese history mostly from the residents’ point of view. I found it educational, entertaining and very moving at times, especially when the story reached the times I actually witnessed here. The performances are strong for the most part and despite the long length I wasn’t bored.

It’s in Chinese with no translation and is very long, three hours, but has an intermission in between the two parts. I highly recommend it.

I saw this play and also recommend it. It brought back my childhood memories and made me think of people in my neighborhood, those who took care of me like I was their own child.
