Pan is Pangcah, so usually he would have a given name and a house name. Iyang is his given name.
Interestingly, Iyang is listed as a male given name for the Atayal and Truku peoples, but not as an Amis name.
Aciyang, Aliyang, and Siyang are male given names for the Kavalan people. Kusiyang, Maliyang,Samiyang, Siyang, and Usiyang are listed as Puyuma male given names. There are a couple other names that end with Iyang as well.
I wonder if that means Pan’s name is related or inspired by Atayal or Truku names, a shortened nickname for one of those longer names, or if the Council of Indigenous Peoples’ document simply failed to record Iyang as a Pangcah name.
