There’s a brand-new Salsa class starting up, Sunday nights 7 - 8 in Xin Yi district. Tonight (9/24) was the first class – no experience necessary but won’t hurt if you have a little either.
The teacher is the alluring and talented, much-acclaimed Maggie.
Come on, what else have you got to do on a Sunday night at 7 pm? Also, it’s located conveniently close to Brown Sugar, for after class practicing…
Ya, we start off with the basic steps and simple turns and isolation.
Then, she shows us a simple partner-dancing move.
Then, the connects that to another simple partner move.
Then, she connected that to yet another slightly complicated spin.
Then, we were all doing this complex-looking and cool move.
We called it “smoove move #1”
In light of the salsa party on the wharf coming up on 11/4, I thought I’d go ahead and do the last call for Sunday salsa:
Next Sunday is class 5.
Steps and moves are gonna start building up and getting more complex.
A little birdie told me that this coming Sunday (10/29) is the last day for new aspiring salseros and salseras to join the class.
So come learn some moves and bust them at the outdoor salsa party!
OH, and one more thing:
SALSA PERFORMANCE this Friday 10/27 at Fortuno.
Maggie, Brook, Gino and Olga - four of the best salsa dancers/instructors in Taipei are putting on a show at Fortuno on Friday night.
Fortuno is down the street from MRT Nanjing E.Rd. Station. Go down 長春(Chang Chun) Road. It’s across the street from the Subber restaurant. Maybe this deserves it’s own post…
A little birdie told me that there’s going to be a new Sunday beginner’s class from 8 to 9. The 7-8 class is still going on, but we’re going to move forward into the “intermediate salsero zone”… Caliente!
But that was just a little birdie. You’d have to call Maggie to find out.
