Turns out this girl, Sina Doering, is legit and continues to improve as a drummer. She’s from northern Germany and her father is a professional musician in Europe who’s (obviously) had some significant influence on his daughter.

What I like best about watching her are the flashes of joy that burst briefly across her face when she’s playing rock’n roll. That’s the whole point of rock, after all. Joy at 2pm or 2am, around the clock, take your pick. At its root rock is all about unbridled joy, it’s the whole point of the genre. Sina gets it, it shows.

Anyway, her improvement. This clip explaining her defense of Ringo Starr as a great rock drummer is cool. The kid makes a good argument imo. (Even though she’s German) (and discoursing on something as optionally organized as rock music).

Jesus hispanic christos.

Tactical withdrawal here as round 1 may just go to the American. We need a drum-off imo, probably something in jazz.

Meanwhile in some parking lot in America (aka why it’s so hard to make it in the US).

My favorite song when I was around 17. I would have tracked her down if she were doing this then (well, you know, if that sort of thing wasn’t against the law).

The Ocean, from a show I actually attended at NorVa, and one of the very best Led Zeppelin songs ever experienced live.

Led Zeppelin definitely stole from US blues, but in some ways some deep South acts, like Govt Mule got it all back and then some, and for many years after.

This cover is all thanks to Warren Haynes, who is as great a host in Asheville come Christmas as he is an American rock god (seriously, he’s a terrific human bean).

Anyway, here’s Govt Mule’s cover of a terrific song that back in the day would have capped a terrific night out anywhere in America.

All I’m hearing is “ rawhide” from the Blues Brothers , however as certain “ cows “ may verify , my musical tastes are somewhat eclectic .

It might not be best, but it is interesting. Hugh Cornwell on guitars.

How about this?

He does look the sort of chap who used to hang out with the likes of Nico.

To me, he looks like Woody Allen in a wig and shades.

Keep coming back to this. I don’t know a thing about the guy. But I guess some kind of TV star? I gather from the comments that he doesn’t record and is a bit shy about his singing. Don’t know if that’s true. There’s something about this cover of this Morrison tune with all its imperfections. He even laughs at himself at one point in the song. Anyway, very well done cover.

Edit: I guess I recognize his face. But I don’t know from what show or movie.

He was the heartthrob for a generation of vampire lovers.

Also actor. Water for Elephants is one of his good movies.
