Any idea where to get the best deal on flour around Danshui? I found a place at the traditional market near the old street that sells for 25nt a “katty” (about a pound) but is there any lower?
I really miss the time where flour was about .49 Euro per Kg

If you can find a DIY baking shop sometimes they’ll sell a bigger bag, like 3 kg, at a slightly cheaper rate, but unless you use it often it’s not worth it, as it’s important to keep only fresh flour on hand.
Also, is it possible to find a whole wheat or flour that is healthier? The flour that are sold commercially have a chemical-y taste.
Expensive organic whole wheat at Costco … 500NT$ for 5 Kg …
… or buy some land, grow your own wheat, buy a grinding stone, a burro and there you go … no bleaching chemicals in your flour …
The DIY baking shops sell whole wheat flour as well as unbleached flour, whole rye flour and so on. See if you can’t find one near you somewhere.
I found whole wheat, but I can’t find unbleached. Any idea where you get yours?
The “whole wheat” seems to be regular flour with stuff added to it…
You said around Danshui, but my sources are in eastern Taibei. I refer you to the thread on where to find baking supply stores here.
Recently Antsyamy has graciously posted [url=http://tw.forumosa.com/t/diy-baking-supply-supplies/22088/43 link to baking stores in Taiwan, in Chinese[/url] at the current end of that thread. One is in Danshui, on ShuiYuan Rd. Sec. 1, #61:
