Best Opportunities?

Hey everyone!
I have been trying to figure out the best choice for my time here in Taiwan. I am currently teaching with an English chain school (it’s my second year), and although the work is fair and the money is fine, I am feeling really hungry for something more. I have a BS in English Education and a MA in English, along with what comes out to about five years of teaching high school students and college students, and I really miss that kind of work i.e. work that has more to do with literature. I don’t want to grow professionally stagnant. Still, I want to stay in Taipei. What are my options? What can I do?

High schools, universtiies, tas, euro school…

Thanks, AWOL!
I am interested in these, but I don’t know how to approach them. (I also would have a transitional certification in teaching high school English, in addition to my experience, because I have taken the proper tests.) How do you know where these are and what is available in terms of vacancies? What is the competition for something like a university job? TAS? High schools? I do not have a TESOL certification.

You might want to look over these two links for information about teaching at Taiwanese universities:

It is fairly easy for an instructor with an M.A. in English to get an instructor position to get a job at an institute of technology or university. Unfortunately, you will not get a lot of respect. Foreigner teachers are expected to be quiet and go along with everything that happens. You will most probably have to wait 2 or 3 months to get your work visa. And you will have to put up with the administration’s haphazard, random ways of making decisions.
The good points? You get paid holidays for 3-4 months out of the year, and you have complete freedom to teach how and what you want.
