Ha. When the hiking club climbed up Ergeshan (which affords panoramic views of Taipei) two member had the great idea to lie on the platform railing in such a way that 101 appeared to stick out of their shorts like an erection. One guy’s wife even pretended to “blow” 101.
When they saw the photos in the view screen, their new member looked pretty tiny, however.
I have long wanted to stop and take a photo of 101 from the middle of Minchuan Bridge. (It’s on Minchuan East Road.) The Keelong River meanders through the foreground with 101 looming over the background.
(edit) Just looked on my HD and found one, but it isn’t very good. It was taken with a crap camera.
Originals are here.
Just do it.

One of the best shots I got of it when I was in Taipei in January.

Don’t know where Elephant Mountain is, but there’s a nice overlook w/clear 101 views at Fuzhoushan Park, which is in a collection of small hills just northeast of Wanlong MRT and between Roosevelt & Xinhai Rds (you’ll see the hills - just walk towards them ).
There seemed to be trails coming up from all directions. Quick, easy hike up a few flights of stairs to get a decent view of the whole building & surrounding areas.
Id still go for the view from Starbuck Eslite Xinyi store. Just perfect. 101 in the urban jungle.

I was just about to mention that, the park can also be reached from Linguang MRT by walking along the bottom of the hill until you see the signs / paths going up.
Return to Linguang MRT via the adjacent eco park, there is a direct connection from/to Fuzhoushan park somewhere (look for the signs near the power mast).
