Best place to try absinthe?

I’m new here and I want to try absinthe. I want the whole ritual, not just shots in a glass.

I did try the search and it didn’t turn up anything, before you ask. :notworthy:

Don’t mean to hijack this thread, but the last time I drank that stuff I ended up feeling very sore.

But then again I don’t have much control over how much I drink. The monkey on my back does the job…

It’s for my little bro, man. He won’t be here forever, and neither will I.

Switzerland … or France …

Carnegies …

If you did a search you should have found this thread.

Or this one.

Or even this one.

I tried it at Carnegies a few months back on what started out as a quiet Sunday afternoon.

They have at least 2 types, and the barman that made ours knew the whole ritual down pat.

The Happy Buddha in Kaohsiung has several types of Absinthe available. With or without ritual, the price is the same, and very reasonable!

Those threads were really kewl…

I love to hear stories about people drinking absinthe by themselves or in Berlin or London or in Prague. It gets my travel lust going.

Why not try it at both places?

(And let us know your thoughts.)

We tried it at Bliss when it was Chocolate & Love. $400/shot. Two of us had five shots total.

The first two shots were ok, but after my third I ran to the restroom.

For me, I didn’t see brazilliant colors or write beautiful poetry, but then I don’t remember which brand we had. It tasted ok, but I don’t get the hype.

Available at the Armoury in Tainan.

Frankly, I didn’t see what the big deal was. It tasted like minty mouthwash. Yuck.
