Betelnet and Stalinist Canada

I’ve got to visit friends and family in Canada. I will be going on a camping trip with some friends in July and they have mentioned they would like to try some betel-nut. Does anyone know if it is legal to bring this agricultural product in your suitcase. I always seem to get a thorough inspection by the Stalinist airport people. They even once laser scanned my friggin suitcase and watched porno dvds brought back from Japan to make sure there were no underaged ones. Motherfuckers.
:fume:

This is probably of no help, but I had a few cans of Pan parag- dried betelnut flakes from India that I took to the States about 5 years ago. I declared them, and lost them. (I was told it’s classified as a narcotic in the U.S.)

I doubt that Canada would be more lenient, but I don’t know dick about Canada.

BANNED SUBSTANCES
The following herbs are among many considered by Health Canada to be harmful substances which may be seized by Customs or wherever they are sold. Some are still being allowed for sale, most are not, and a couple have come back.

Google is your friend.

Ya, I saw that. But its not really too official sounding. Google is my bitch

True, a bit more offical, but also more vague: inspection.gc.ca/english/cor … adae.shtml
When are documents required?

Meat and dairy products, nuts, plants, fruits and live animals, if allowed into Canada, may require permits issued in Canada in advance, and/or certificates from the country of origin. Contact CFIA.

Without required documents, entry is not permitted. Some products, plants or animals may be seized and disposed of, or ordered removed from Canada. Others may require treatment before they can stay. Travellers are responsible for all costs related to disposal, quarantine or treatment.
It’s not looking good, you won’t get a definate answer from anyone on here, you’ll have to ask Canadian customs for the offical answer.

Actually I don’t think they are motherfuckers, there are some pretty good reasons to be wary people bringing in agricultural produce.

Also, betel nuts get all skanky if they’re more than a day or two old, even if you keep them in the fridge.

I took some home(South Africa) in my baggage in december,2003.Nobody asked questions.
