When I say bike-friendly I mean places that have enough room out front to park bikes AND allow me to keep an eye on my bike while I eat. Wendels in Tianmu is the perfect place with their big courtyard. The original Diner’s is also nice, provided that I can get a table near the big window against which I would lean my bike. Any other recommendations? Chinese restaurants are OK, though I tend to avoid greasy grub in the middle of my ride.
There’s a really nice seafood and beer place on the river in Danshui that lets people put bikes inside the restaurant - it’s 2 doors down from the Ireland potato (there’s another similar place between them but I don’t know about bike friendliness).
they even provide small bowls of water for the bikes.
Just don’t let the bike put his wheels up on the table, thanks.
I avoid Danshui like the plague, especially on weekends. The riverside bike path is overrun by throngs of loitering tourists. Good luck pushing your way through, let alone ride it.
I’ve heard good things about Frog Cafe from fellow riders but have never been.
I thought I had been to Frog but the location on the website seems wrong. Isn’t it right by the bridge to Guandu? In any case there is a cafe there with a big deck and is bike friendly. Stopped in a few times when I was on a long night ride.
There’s a pasta place at Bitan that allows bikes inside.
I actually do know a mess of bike friendly places around Taipei.
The top of Wuzhishan, for example, has many places to choose from, or there’s the Helen’s cafe a bit further along as one descends to Neihu along the forest development road. Apart from Helen’s, most of them are open past midnight in summer. I have occasionally eaten there at 12:30 or so after riding up the back in the dark. Nice breeze on a hot night.

If you consider burgers and french fries to be “good food”, then yes.
