Bike tuning questions

i hope you’re talking about the legality issues here, not the actual ability to do so…

mm… datto 1200 with 20B bridge port :sunglasses: braap braap braaaaaaaaaaaap
… honda civic with turbo H22A
… datto 1200 with sr20det

not to mention all the minis with motorbike engines

as for bikes… i know that a hornet 250 can have the hornet 600 lump installed with a bit of work… chassis is the same…
older CBRs can have newer CBR engines installed with some work…

… and where’s that vid of the go-kart from germany with a CBR1100XX engine??? hehehee… a beast…

thanks for that. i’ll certainly consider that

went to my trusty mechanic yesterday to get the front brake fixed as suggested here earlier. he took the old pads out (one month old) and told me on spot that they were rubbish. probably even fake products, too. be careful there, i’ve just learned that THAT is a MAJOR market here, for all kind of brake parts.
aside from that, he put some new in (he insured me these are the same he uses for his own bike) together with a braided steel cable - voila’! better than new! still can’t perform a stoppie but actually haven’t really tried so far. stopping power is there, on the spot and not grabby at all, does not lock the wheel even when squeezed hard. and one or two fingers are enough to do so.
now, i don’t have much experience with different bikes and the lot, but this works for me, i feel safe with the brakes again and can come to a quick stop whenever needed. oh, and he charged me 2500NT, 2K for the cable, 500 for the pads. fair price? dunno, i think, in a different shop they would have tried to sell me brand new brembos for 10x the price - but see above, who knows what you really get?

and i also got a fancy rpm-meter, since funnily enough the VR200 comes without. the 150 has. tell me why. now, for a single pot engine an idle of 1300+/- is that ok? it does not sond like that high. but thats just a theoretical question anyway since its just an indicator how high the engine revvs in the gears, give or take a few. it would need proper calibration on the dyno i think but this is just fine for me, it serves my purpose. i change gears by listening to the engine.

as for the taller screen i checked with hartford and they don’t have any, i went to a place in neihu that specializes in bmw (and their off-road specialist Touratech from germany) because i thought that they would have something like that in their portfolio. actually they do (and a hell of a lot other interesting stuff) but it didn’t fit on the small screen i got. so back to the net and finding something else.

alright, weather is improving a lot, lets go for a ride.
have a nice day, too.

I guess that sounds about right.
I pay 500 for decent pads, (or so they tell me).

You can adjust your idle easy enough, all you need is a screw driver and 5 min.
In the range of 1000 is about right.

Rip it up.

I think its fine. god knows whats the real rpm in idle for that particular bike, but it sounds ok and feels ok. don’t like to fiddle with that and would probably only end up with a screwed one. if its good enough for the manufacturer, its good enough for me (aside from a few other minor parts). i see it like a computer: never change a running system.

thanks lad, i welcome every input.

have a good one.

Ah, yes.
