I always thought most banks for decades always plugged that they had English service at their branches? But of course the reality when you got there was you needed Mandarin.
When you call a bank and it says Press 2 for English Speaking Help.
Call Center Banker: Ni HaoâŠ
Same happens if you call chunghua telecom too. Or the majority of companies. Press 2 for English⊠ćŸé«èçșäœ æć:)
Taiwanese banks donât understand English signatures. If you have a messy signature that changes a little each time, you are screwed.
And Iâll say it again: they donât even understand foreign names. If one document has your middle name, and another doesnât, they tell you to off. Why would anyone think a green dude with tentacles called y y is not the same as a green dude with tentacles called y y y who has the same DOB and everything? Itâs not like y is a common name!
Especially frustrating is if the name on your ID doesnât match the name on their records because their form doesnât permit more than a dozen characters for a name.
My legal last name has twelve letters. My middle name isnât present on my NHI card, which has brought up confusion at times⊠and because my last name is so long, itâs invariably cut off at clinics and hospitals, where they call it out as though itâs my first name. âYeah, close enough, thatâs me.â
Just waiting for my 10-yr passport to expire so I can change it, and my ARC, to my three-letter married nameâŠ!
