Baseball - Blocking or not blocking?

So, with the introduction of the Posey rule, things got even more murky at the home plate. This happened last night, Brothers catcher Chen Jia-ju already has the ball in hand, and knelt down on home plate to tag Monkeys runner Chen Jun-hsiu out. After the Monkeys manager calling a review challenge, the Monkeys were given the point because the catcher was blocking the lane.

That pretty much sparked outrage and people are trying to explain the rules and everyone seems to have their own interpretation. So I decided to look to the MLB for some clarity.

Here’s Dave Valle on MLB network, saying that the catcher should stay behind home plate, and bend down to tag the runner out as if he’s a second baseman, to avoid contact, and that you definitely do not want to be on or in front of home plate.

Here’s Joe Girardi saying the exact opposite

WTF?

if in the way, smoke em. Hockey style. if he has the ball, out. If not, then fair game. Baseball needs less rules probably.
