Blue Elephant Thai Ingredients in Taiwan

There is hope for all of ya Thai food lovers !

QUOTE from 3rd source:

Dear Friends,

Blue Elephant has finaly arrived in Taiwan!
The Blue Elephant concept was started some 20 years ago by my good Belgian friend Mr. Karel Steppe. Today Blue Elephant is the leader in Royal Thai Cuisine with restaurants worldwide and a cooking school in Bangkok.
In 2005 a range of Thai grocery products under the Blue Elephant label was introduced and is now also available in Taiwan.
As from the end of next week you will be able to find these high quality products for cooking Thai food at home in Jason’s, Breeze Center and Mitsukoshi supermarkets.
We will have regular Thai cooking demonstrations and tastings at these locations.
For more information please have a look at the website: www.blueelephant.com
We will keep you informed about the locations and time of the cooking demonstrations and are looking forward to see you all there.

Kindest regards.

I went there with my father a couple of times in London. I think he was trying to impress some rich Thai bird. I was pretty young so I remember the river in the restaurant more than anything. And rice being served in pineapple skins seemed so sophisticated. Good food, although I was hardly a connoisseur.

Edit The Blue Elephant, not RT Mart.

I don’t see any mention of Taiwan on the website, and when they finally set one up I’m sure it’ll be entirely in some flash based half-assed done Chinese. Ah well, there’s always hope.

Perhaps this information about the Blue Elephant should be in its own thread.

And, as far as I know, the Thai food festival is not being held right now. The OP was from a few months (years?) back.

There will probably be another Thai food fest with sales on Thai products at another point in the year, but there is not one going on at RT Mart right now. I’ll check for sure later today, but the last DM I got from RT Mart had nothing about a Thai fest.

And I’ll be on the lookout for the Blue Elephant products in the Breeze Center supermarket.

If there is more information available on the Bleu Elephant products, demonstrations etc, I will open a new Thread for sure. Thanks for the advice!

No problem, ceevee369.

And thanks for keeping us posted on the Blue Elephant.

And I just got back from the RTMart on Bade, and there is definitely not a Thai Food Fest sale being held at the moment.

I did see some Thai chili sauce (looked like Sriracha from afar) and some satay sauce in a can–on the sale shelf.

Mod note: I don’t have time to dick around any more right now with editing RT Mart stuff out of people’s posts. Please keep the RT Mart stuff in the ohter thread and keep this one for Blue Elephant stuff. Ta.

Thanks ceevee369 to post some information about Blue Elephant Thai Grocery Line.
The products can be seen on following site: blueelephant.com/trade/thai_ … _line.html
Taiwan will be mentioned on the Bleu Elephant website soon.
The products are now avaible in all Jason’s markets and Breeze Center. In the latest Jason’s in Hsinchu all products can be found together in one display. In the other Jason’s locations the products are still devided over the all store so a bit more difficult to find.
In March a Thai festival will be held at the Sherwood hotel in cooperation with Blue Elephant Cooking School Bangkok.
Thai Chefs and one of the founders of Blue Elephant will come to Taiwan for this occasion.
A press conference and cooking demonstration will be held in Jason’s 101 mid March.
There is no immediate plan however to open a Blue Elephant in Taiwan.

This coming March 17th and 18th a Thai cooking demonstration / press conference will be held at Jason’s 101.
For this occasion a Thai chef from the Blue Elephant Cooking School in Bangkok together with one of the founders of Blue Elephant will come to Taiwan.
Will post details about the time later this month.
A special gift will be waiting for the ‘forumosa’ readers. Just ask for Peter or Ivy and mention ‘forumosa’.

A gift? I like gifts. Any idea what sort of gift?

I’ll be there. Sounds very interesting. And since I’m the moderator of the forum, I should get an extra special gift so that I don’t get lumped in with all the plebs.

A “special” Thai massage?
Could anything possibly be better? :howyoudoin:

Ok, an extra special gift for the moderator. It will however be a food related Blue Elephant Gift.
Don’t count on a Thai massage.
Confirmed timing for both Saturday March 17th and Sunday March 18th starting at 2.30 pm at Jason’s 101.

Woohoo! Thank you! By the way, is the event open to all or are reservations required? Also, what language will the demonstration be conducted in?

The cooking demonstration and press conference will be in English but there will be of course translation into Chinese.
Everybody is very welcome. The event will be at the entrance of Jason’s 101. We have lot’s of space there but so far I don’t know how many people will show up.
I do know there is a great interest from the press to attend the press conference.
Forumosans who would like to attend please let me know your names.
You can post messages here or e mail me at peter@lrritz.com

Sounds great.

I’ll be there for at least one of the days.

Looking forward to it.

Dear All,

Sorry but there is a change in the dates for the Blue Elephant Thai cooking demonstration.
The new dates are as follows:
Friday March 23rd at Jason’s Takashimaya from 16.30 till 17.30.
Saturday March 24th. at Jason’s 101 from 14.00 till 14.40 and from 16.00 till 16.40.

I’ll be there on the Saturday. Thanks for the heads up.

I bought some curry pastes from Jasons. Interesting. Pleasant but fairly apologetic; had to add a lot of other spices to ‘boost’ them. I will definitely buy them again, though. Nice to have something new.

All righty, then. I’ll be at the demonstration on Saturday at Jason’s 101.

Looking forward to it.
