I hope it’s a good event. I went down to the Dream Community Parade and Culture festival this year, but I’d have had more fun sticking needles in my eyes.
But you’re right – it must take guts to dress up as a transvestite schoolgirl in makeup. So why do it? What did that have to do with the blues, anyway? Just lose the makeup, wear some pants, tell some jokes and introduce the bands. People will thank you for it.
Snicker!
So Cole, are you getting on up this time?

I was supposed to, but now I’m having second thoughts.
I had no idea people wereso unhappy with my contribution last year.
I was going to wear my Elvis suit…

why not just get “the bone” to do it?
he does most other events and it’s funny watching him pass the point of no return in terms of drunkeness but somehow still managing to do his job without getting lamped by anyone
seriously the problem last year was the MC(s) did too much; it’s not a republican fundraiser…we don’t need endless twaddle between acts; just play a howlin’ wolf CD or sometink…
Bone will be there and the issue of last year’s MC will be addressed as well with the OC and sure not to worry about. Hope you can support this event with your attendance, the OC under D.C. Rapier’s management put in many, many hours to make this 3rd Blues Bash an outstanding one. Many of the Blues Society members put in their own hard earned cash to make it possible. There are also Sponsors, Budweiser, Yamaha, Hewlet Packard, the Dream Community, Lu Fu Construction company and Capones. Capones/Tavern will be taking care of your culinary needs during the Event. There will be Jam Sessions with the Performers on both Saturday and Sunday Nights from 10pm till early morning at Capones. Entrance for that at Capones will be NT$200 which will go towards the organizing costs of the event at the Dream Community.

Who’s “the bone”?
um some guy with the nickname “bone” who MC’s a lot of events here (Daniel Pearl day, footy tournaments, um some other things)…works for Tavern captain in various capacities…someone help me out here…
Music was oustanding, from early afternoon through to late night.
Food was superb, both from the Capone’s stand (nice mash!) and the Tree Cafe.
People were lovely - we raised over NT$21,000 at the AnimalsTaiwan booth, thanks greatly to DC, the MC, and The Chief, who all plugged us relentlessly throughout the evening.
We also may have two adoptions coming out of this: one for cute pup Spencer, and the other - drum roll, please - for our two-legged sweet little amputee, Sugar! :bravo: The Chief has been on a roll lately - every time he kisses one of our dogs, they get adopted soon after - I kid you not. I hope he’s coming today, as I’m bringing some more pooches for him to smooch!
So, if you want to feel like you’re somewhere else, if you want to mingle with good people, drink cheap beer, and eat fine food while listening to some outstanding music, make sure you come early today (Sunday); you will not be disappointed. The Bloody Raisin Gamblers are playing too, so you really don’t want to miss this one!
And let’s see if we can top the NT$21k we made yesterday - feel free to help us out with that. Come to the AnimalsTaiwan booth and make a purchase or donation - or enquire about adopting one of our lovely canine buddies.
No cover charge at the Dream Community. Great music, great people, lovely dogs. It is very suitable to bring children as well, lot of things for them to see and do.
I take that to mean a great day was had by one and all. Although, hopefully, the damage from the evil drink didn’t start till after you’d finished onstage!
Slow funky blues and brilliant good fun too. Sandman was, as Tim would say, the pizza of resistance to the whole thing on the clarinet or whatever that thing was he was playing. Fox, lupi, Tim, the beautiful girl whose husband didn’t get jealous when I spoke with her…
Yeah, a very nice day out. Good times, good music, good friends. Thanks to everyone who made it out, the MBRs had a good time despite the poor sound and the pitifully short set length.
A big round of thanks for the people who worked so hard to put this thing together, especially D.C. Rapier – a true gentleman and a giant among men. Tash, you kept things running smooth, TavernCaptain, excellent viands, lovely mash! Great to see Animals Taiwan with such a strong presence.
Anyone got any pics? I forgot me camera yesterday.
Corey from the Dream Community has taken over 2000 pictures during the two days, once a selection is done (which takes some time of course), they will be published on the home page of the blues society. I will post once that is completed which should be by the end of this week.
