Amazing ice coconut milk tea! Only 25 NT for a HUGE brandy goblet full.
I now have a new favorite. Probably will drink it until I am sick of it.
The restaurant is located across the street from McDonalds and down the road just a few doors.
Seems there area lot of great cheap places to eat near Zhengzhi University.
Interesting. I tried it once and thought it just passable. Far better food is at the last Yunnan restaurant on the north side of the road, a block or two east of the uni gates. That place has been packing them in for years ad has the best fried chicken.
Funny I donât remember ever eating there. Either it wasnât there yet or no one recommended it to me (I lived in Mucha from 95 to 02). I was pretty delighted when Bo Bo Cha Cha opened since there wasnât much other recourse for NCCU students. The area sure wasnât known for its eats â a lousy Sichuan place, could never abide by that converted temple thing. I have fond memories of tea at Gatsby, coffee at Stir - suppose neither of those places are around anymore. These days I havenât a clue what the area has to offer. I did visit the chicken restaurant at the end of Wanshou Rd a few months back â excellent as always.
It always boils down to whoâs cooking, doesnât it?

The Yunnan place has been there for at least 6 years. Iâm sure I ate there before I went back to Canada in 2000. Many of the foreigners who live in Muzha have written about it in other threads. The food is consistently good and very reasonable especially considering the quality. It is on the left side of the road a block or so past the post office (across from the main gate of the uni) as you head up toward the temple.
Note that a copycat Yunnan place opened up on the same side of the road. Go to the second Yunnan restaurant at the very end of the row of restaurants and shops.
I agree with you completely on the other places. The temple market in particular has awful food by any standards. You can taste other dishes in your food as they reuse their oil so many times.
One great addition to the Muzha scene in the last few years is all the teahouses in Maokong have started serving food. Only one place stands out for its food, but many others offer a decent meal on a patio with a superb view overlooking green rolling hills, or sparkling Taipei on a clear night. And you canât knock that combo.
Derek, maybe you can change the thread to Bo Bo Cha and other good eateries around NCCU.
I just ate at BoBoChaCha and it was indeed cheap and good.
Had a great satay dish and giant iced milk chocolate drink for under 100nt.
Excellent value, and fast service.
Thereâs also a very good English menu available.
Ask for it at the front counter.
Great recommendation, duckboy.
I must have just missed you. I ate there too and was left sorta blase (add your own accent) about it. I tried the Mutton dish and found it dry and tasteless. My friend had the Curry Chicken and she too felt underwhelmed by the taste. The Coconut Milk Tea and the price were right, but the food mediocre.
Do try The Yunnan place. Still my fav. First restaurant west of the cop shop.
Another NCCU secret is the Shien Su Qi (deep fry guy) kitty corner from the Subway. Red Sun (Hong Tai Yang) makes some of the best Taiwanese calamari in the city.
Bo Bo Cha Cha is still doing well there~ Glad to hear that. Havenât been back to Muzha area for around 6 years.
Food in Bo Bo Cha Cha is cheap and cheerful for students (as well as people in work) without much budget.
