BOARDSHORTS in TAIPEI

I need boardshorts (or another men’s swimsuit – no speedos tho) quick!

My girlfriend and I are going to S. Thailand on SATURDAY, so that leaves me with tomorrow and Fri to find some. Ive searched at a Carrefour and the malls around Taipei 101, but no avail.

Ideas, ideas, please.

Just get them in Thailand?

Mostly only sell skin tight lycra biker shorts type swimsuits here and i dont think thats what your looking for.

Gettem in Thailand…Yea but Im afraid there wont be any time…or I won’t be able to find any… mibbe Ill have to ask a thaimosa.com ?

But yeh…you’re right… skin tight biker shorts WILL NOT do.

Costco…Was up in Chunghe this evening and saw some there.

Does the place you’re going in Thailand have anyplace to stay? If it does, you’ll find shops selling all manner of bathing accoutrements, in a far wider variety and for much cheaper prices than you’ll find here.

Yup. Thailand is the place to get a pair of swimmers. No need for much time. Don’t stress it. Once you’re near a beach, just about every second shop will have what you need.

Have a great trip!

Well, if you really want those board shorts, and if you’re willing to make a trip up to Tianmu, there is an “outlet store” that sells loads of them. Zhong Shan N. Road, Section 7. The 220 bus is super easy to take so as long as you get onto the 220, wait until you get past TAS. Get off the bus at the second bus stop. Walking back in the direction of TAS, and just a few shops is this outlet store selling the boardshorts. Right by the entrance is a milk tea counter.

I only know this because my teen practically lives in these shorts, but if you’re into the brands/designs, Oneill’s, Ripcurl (?), Lost, etc, they have these for a fraction of the retail prices at home.

What cruel bastards some of you lot are. Boardshorts are impossible to purchase in Thailand because it is compulsory to swim naked.

I just wanted all the naked people to laugh and point at him. Anyway, maybe he already knows about the nudey thing and the shaving thing, too – maybe he’s looking for restaurant wear.

Really though, unless you’re really going somewhere that NO tourists go, you’ll find that every other shop will be selling beach stuff.

Ah christ… Ive no costco card. braxtonhicks, Where is Tianmu? Im willing to take an adventure… how do I catch this 220 bus?

The reason I dont want to wait until Thailand is cuz we’re doing some crazy jam-packed tour, the first day is parasailing and snorkeling or some shit

And right there, right where you’ll be parasailing and snorkelling, will be some enterprising Thai person waiting with a pair of swimmers, knowing in his soul that you will arrive and need to buy a pair.

Don’t believe me? Fine. Tell the tour guide when you arrive and it will be sorted in minutes anyway.

AT the 24 hour book store near 101 in the basement there is a Roxy store that sells board shorts… A little expensive but good quality and not rip-offs… Also behind luxy in one of the alleys there is a surfing shop that sells them as well.

Deep six the parasailing and the snorkeling and go for the “some shit.” You don’t need boardshorts for that – just a neoprene beercan holder.

I think I love you…

I found a nice pair in Roxy but ffs it was NT$2300, which normally is not too bad, but Im broke as a joke rite now so I went exploring around Zhongxiao Dunhua, around the alleys, and found an O’Niell’s surfshop, everything 50pc off… I ran outta there with the pair I wanted for NT$1040… brilliant.

But B400 would have been that much sweeter.

I don’t think our friend is even going to Thailand… He just wanted boardshorts to wear in Taiwan and was too embarassed to ask about it.

It’s ok.

Upon seeing the title of this thread I thought for sure I was going to be defending the practice of wearing board shorts on 90c/90% summer days. Glad to see that’s not the case at all… yet…
