Good question. I was so busy I only looked at it for a sec. It was brief, and it was in Chinese - I remember that much.
I LINEd my wife a few minutes ago to ask. “Just a few things about you and your hip and how you need care.” So I guess it was a bit of heartwarming sentimentality, Taiwan style.
The truth is that, thanks to quarantine, I haven’t been able yet to talk to her face to face. I know that she made calls to BOFA in Taipei in March, and at least two to TECO in Houston that April.
I was in my second Airbnb and applying packing tape to my new Lowe’s box on Monday morning, April 27, when the phone rang. It was TECO in Houston.
“Hi, bojack. Did you receive your passport and your visa?” she asked.
“Yes, I intercepted the UPS driver Saturday morning and took delivery. I have them safely tucked away in my pocket now.”
“I’m glad to hear that,” she said. “Safe travels. Oh, and tell your wife hello from me!”
Like I said, I am still not fully aware of what exactly went on in the background.
Thanks for the answer, I might be in the same position if this situation goes on many more months.
Sounds like your wife knows how to sweet-talk the officials!
