Hey
I was born it Taiwan and got a passport back then. It does list my ID number, so I assume I have a household registration somewhere? Probably my latest TW adress?
I left when i was a year old using TW passport and got a “Departed” stamp in my TW passport.
I then enteres Europe on a European passport and haven’t been using my (expired) TW passport since.
I now wonder, if I want to renew my TW passport. Should I apply for overseas status or just apply as a “normal” TW citizen?
Boca says : “Applicants who can apply under regular passport regulations:
… 2:Those who exited the ROC before December 31 of the year they were fifteen years of age and have not returned since then; or
3:Those who have obtained Overseas Chinese status and have not yet been conscripted.”
What’s “important” to me is to get my ID number printed in my new passport aswell, as I suspect it will be easier for me to return to TW later in life, if I would like too. (don’t have anything planned, right now. But it would be nice to have the opportunity to go back without to much hassle.)
Should I apply under regular passport regulations, as Boca says I can do. Or should I get the overseas status? Is it possible to get my ID number printed in my passport even with overseas status. And if i keep “full citizenship” and don’t get the overseas status. will i be drafted once i land in TW (if i go there) or will i still have the 4 months as the overseas nationals ? ’
I guess my question in short will be, how to keep as many rights there as possible, wihtout getting in trouble with hte military etc, if i visit TW (for a shorter period of time.)
