The person sounds like a Taiwanese guy too

The 15 year old looks and sounds like a Taiwanese girl
Is she subject to question too ?

Yes. Transgender category or an “Open” category.

Definitely needed considering how a back of the pack male swimmer, decided to transition to female and absolutely crushed the true female competition.

Sucked as a male, crushed it as a “female” and still kept the twig and berries and flaunted it in the locker room.

No. Not at all. None of the other boxers I highlighted are considered anything other than a female boxer. And all quite skilled.

Was he banned from the olympics?

This has gotta be the most over the top story. Trans? Just sounds like a pervert to me.

Wants to beat women as a 6 foot man then share a locker room with them while getting his tackle out. Couldn’t make this stuff up.

Rightfully denied Olympic bid to compete as a female.

She’s from Algeria, which is probably almost enough to settle that line of argument (not exactly lgbtq+ friendly).

Gotta tone down the rhetoric on the two IBA dq’d boxers, no matter your politics. First, these two aren’t, afaik, a case like Fallon Fox; it seems most likely an intersex issue where even they didn’t know until they were disqualified, in which case any decent person is going to feel for them. But we don’t know what IBA (booted by the IOC for corruption btw. Imagine how bad you gotta be for that.) test they failed. Second, this wasn’t exactly a brutal beating. Khelif isn’t some sort of Mike Tyson destroying everyone; she has a good record, most by decisions (like most women’s boxing matches), but has lost her share as well. This was a brief exchange, no blood, no broken nose (that’s been confirmed), no ko, nothing crazy. If you’re a fight fan you’ve seen much, much worse, including in xx-xx fights. So feel how you want about the politics and eligibility rules, but get a grip on what happened here.

But regarding her opponents.saying she shouldn’t box
this make you feel better? You changing your tune?

Carini apologized Friday for her treatment of Khelif. “I’m sorry for my opponent,” she told Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport. “If the IOC said she can fight, I respect that decision.”

“It wasn’t something I intended to do,” Carini said. “Actually, I want to apologize to her and everyone else. I was angry because my Olympics had gone up in smoke,” she said.

It seems most likely her and the Taiwanese fighter were identified as females by doctors at birth, given what we know.

I don’t believe anyone has confirmed this. And yes, it happens in boxing all the time. What, you think they were all born with fucked up noses?

Gender is binary. Except when it’s not. I’m not sure that’s a helpful way of looking at it.

Anyway, anyone here actually watch the match? You know why she was hit so hard? Because she didn’t have her freaking hand up! Super clean shot on a counter. Would likely be a knockout with man sized power. The Italian quit on the fight.

 I’ve competed in boxing, BJJ, and judo as an adult. and wrestling when I was like 7.

Yet those punches didn’t seem to do much damage relative to BIG punches we’ve all seen. I’m never going to talk smack about someone getting in the ring, but you know sometimes people are more game at times than other times, and sometimes people are already mentally checked out. I feel like she got clocked good (happens when you drop your left hand), and was kind of like fuck this. Her prerogative, as it’s a combat sport and your head has to be in the game. But nothing seems to suggest that the Algerian is a particularly fearful boxer.

Lin Yu‑ting of Taiwan won her fight against Sitora Turdibekova of Uzbekistan by unanimous decision at the Paris Olympics on Friday

I’m just not seeing a female here. Sorry.

This is unknown. Her medical files and her chromosomal status are being kept private and confidential. Born female, raised female, id card female, passport female, identifies as female. But, if she’s XY, then that would explain why she looks and sounds so manly.

It hasn’t been proven or publicly revealed, but it is alleged that she has the male chromosome.

Also, she was stripped of a bronze medal that she won last year due to failing a gender eligibility test, which of course wasn’t specified.

sorry, that’s not any sort of standard.

Genetic testing would be a good standard.

She tests XX, then she’s female and a non-issue and free to compete against females.

If not, then she’s other than standard female and strong consideration should be given as to whether it’s fair to have her compete against XX females.

I totally get that.
Educated myself quite quickly on this whole affair since it rose to bigger prominence with these Olympics.
Even my kids now know what intersex is.
So, no one knows 100% if boxer Lin has penis or vagina, except parents and a few doctors and maybe Lin’s coach(es). Only know has XY or at least high level of testosterone.

I’ve read everything I can find on intersex and XX vs XY chromosomes and the current controversies surrounding these two Olympic boxers as well as competitive runner Caster Semenya from South Africa. Very interesting stuff.

As for what “plumbing” Lin has down below, I would have to guess that she’s got the female parts. It would be damned near impossible for her to be born in a Taiwan hospital and be born with a penis, but designated female on her birth certificate. Then, all the years of growing up through elementary, junior high, high school and it was kept a secret without anyone knowing? Nah
I’ll guess that she’s got the XY chromosome which caused her to become manly at the time of puberty. She might have hidden testes within her body and be intersex. But that’s really no one’s business but her own.

She was most likely designated female at birth based on visual inspection by the delivering doctor, but had the intersex condition 5α-Reductase 2 deficiency (5-ARD) which only affects genetic males with XY chromosomes. Individuals with 5-ARD have normal male internal structures that are not fully masculinized during the development of the reproductive system in utero due to low levels of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Because of this, the external genitalia appear female at birth.

She was probably born with a vagina and internal undescended testes, but without a uterus or fallopian tubes and doesn’t have menstruation. If this is the case, then her internal testes would produce natural testosterone levels in the typical male range. Would this give her an unfair advantage over normal XX females? Probably. But, how much? And what are her testosterone levels?

Normal average measurements for testosterone:

Male: 300 to 1,000 nanograms per deciliter (ng/dL) or 10 to 35 nanomoles per liter (nmol/L)

Female: 15 to 70 ng/dL or 0.5 to 2.4 nmol/L.

So, if æž—éƒć©· has a male testosterone mid-level of 500 ng/dl and the other female boxers only had the maximum average of 70 ng/dl, she would clearly have an advantage over the others. If this is true, should she be permitted to box with females whose testosterone levels are as low as 15ng/dl to a high 70 ng/dl?

So, the only way I can see to level the playing field for female sports is to have genetic testing. That would solve it, I believe.

Why? because of the hairline?

Muscles I guess. IDK what the fuck is wrong with people.

But neither of these boxers are competing in a way that shows them as having any overt advantage. They aren’t freaks in the ring pummeling opponents into submission. The Italian girl wasn’t hurt, not one bit. The two Irish girls who have fought the Algerian are like, she’s not scary in the least. She’s an average opponent. This entire thing was the Russians being dicks, JK Rowling being a kunt and the IOC refusing to take ownership of the situation. Let them fight and then after the Olympics go back and figure out how to test and how to adjudicate on this. It’s literally a storm in a teacup that the wrong people with the wrong agendas have jumped on simply because they’re toxic wankers.

Looks like a woman to me. Her hairline is crazy tho. Possibly as a side effect of PEDs.

Looks like a guy sounds like a guy
It’s a Guy

That’d certainly be a straightforward standard.

So you’d be ok with trans men competing with women as long as they lowered their t enough?

Right.

That’s what they used to do. Then they were like fuck, this shit is complicated.

:person_shrugging: What do I know what those fucknuts femininity standards are?

Pretty much all female swimmers that compete in swim have big backs and shoulders. Hell, that shoulders up in the pool makes most people look like they have relatively decent shoulders .

Dude, you live in SF; you know that’s not how it works, at all.

Jesus Tommy, make a fucking effort.

If you were to pick up a guy and go home with him and take off his trousers to find he had no penis, would you still go, nah fair enough, he looked like a guy and he sounded like a guy, so he’s still a guy even though he has no male genitalia?

I think Tommy wouldn’t pick up a person looking like a guy, but I digress.
