Bringing 2 coyotes to Taiwan

My friend has a baby rhino, can this also be brought in to Taiwan, he won’t be living near people or KTV bars – should be ok yea?

hao ke ai laaaa!

Reintroducing the clouded leopard would be a much better idea!
My cat is a half-leopard hybrid, at least according to a zoologist at academia sinica and the people at Fushan garden I spoke with. O_o
Yes strays have bred with leopard cats here, which still exist. This puts them in danger of extinction. Many of the strays are supposedly hybrids.
Those hybrids can be hard to handle as pets.

I believe there is a difference between leopard cats and clouded leopards .

Iv seen a clouded leopard at the Taipei zoo. Apparently they may be extinct in the wilds of Taiwan.

Taiwan leopard cat :

these suckers are apparently pretty wild and mean.

Man, you have no idea. My cat still behaves like a semi-feral even though I picked her up when she was three weeks old and raised her from scratch. She’s lovely but kind of wild…

That’s a pity. They’re very good eating.

Umh, Taiwan’s leopards (the Taiwan clouded leopard) are in fact a highly endangered, if not extinct, species.

How did you acquire the hybrid?

[Edit: Just saw Tommy’s post. Yes, it is much more likely that you have a “leopard cat”, which is different from a hybrid with a Taiwan leopard. You’re right that a leopard cat is not a house cat, and is a wild animal – but it isn’t a leopard/cat hybrid.]

The

Even if he makes it through all the checkpoints all Hell is going to break loose the first time they’ll need a vet visit. My vet was able to immediately recognize that my cat is not a house cat, but a leopard/cat hybrid. Since those are indigenous to Taiwan and leopards are not endagered, no one cares. Wouldn’t work for coyotes.
I’ve since established that my Aineko is a leopard cat indeed. I probably fucked up while translating what the vet told me.

As for the way I acquired her, I just picked her up from a street in Kaohsiung. She was wandering around close to the Love River area and was seriously malnourished. I brought her home, got her healthy and raised her. She’s lovely even though still somewhat wild.

‘Apparetly they might be extinct’ … I see you have been influenced by Taiwanese govt embarrassment that they killed off their biggest feline predator over 50 years ago but still can’t admit it! What you saw in the zoo was probably the Malaysian clouded leopard.

Someday I expect they will reintroduce clouded leopards to Taiwan although it will not be the same subspecies that once lived here (if there was any frozen or preserved material it should be possible to clone them in future).

Leopard cats still exist but are also endangered.

I know! My gf brought a stray kitten home and I strongly suspect it was a hybrid aswell, basically impossible to domesticate and it ran away in the end.

It’s very unlikely you have a pure bred leopard cat, most likely it is a hybrid.

National shame not to preserve the Formosan Clouded Leopard. A truly unique species of leopard and invaluable to Taiwan.

There is still one at the Taipei Zoo I think. Unless it died. Iv seen him.

The Leopard cat has been crossed in the USA and now the hybrids are known as BENGAL CATS. They are wilder and bigger then the largest domestic cat , the Maine Coon (I have one) .

But apparently they are not supposed to be sold until the 4th generation. The others are kept for breeding by breeders. Because they are very wild like until at least the 4th generation.

Yes, sorry, I apparently cannot write anymore

She sure is lovely. Fast on the attack too.
