Maybe so, but it does not escape the fact that the UK educational system is a complete mess at the moment.
I have a couple of friends at home who are teachers - one landed a job recently at a high school and quit because the discipline in schools is so shoddy. He feels that he is wasting his time with kids who don’t want to learn.
There is no discipline because teachers face legal action if they disciplinbe kids. Detention is not allowed and children have the right not to do work.
In one class my friend was observing, the teacher asked a student to read out alloud. As the student started reading, one of the kids shouted “Shut up you fat bint, we don’t want to hear you read.”
The teacher just said “now, Clint, that’s not a very nice thing to say.”
Things are too PC. Students rule over the teachers who have very limited control over the classes. The teachers are scared to tell students off and students who want to learn can not because the majority of the other students are disruptive in class.
The softly softly approach isn’t working, either in crime or education.
