Brunei: Worth it?

Hello,

One possible route between Thailand~Bali is through Brunei.

Has anyone been there? Recommendations?

I leafed through a guide (with the idea of looking into a layover) but the big thing to see and do was a ‘Western-style theme park’. It made the country sound like an expensive yawn with the odd oppulent mosque to see.

Has anyone here been? Would you give it a pass or not?

I liked it. You only need a few days, though. Cheap accommodation (hostel with pool), very friendly and helpful people, good food.

But no … soul. :frowning:

I think it’s worth seeing. Jeradong Fun Park is great … and free!

Good luck.

…the world’s most boring place to visit.

Might be better to hop on over to Sarawak…

What hostel? I’ve heard there’s no cheap accommodation in Brunei…

Oh, yes there is.

The Trader’s Inn has rooms for US$23.00 per night, but there’s a hostel I’ve stayed in several times that’s only US$10 for THREE nights.

Can’t find it online, but it is in the Let’s Go guide for Southeast Asia. I’ll have a look when I get home.

Thanks. Brunei is the only Southeast Asian country I’ve never visited (well, not counting East Timor). Hope to visit there soon.

Search for ‘“pusat Belia” brunei’.

Good luck.
