I have picked up an interesting bug/virus on my desktop. I have Norton AntiVirus installed. However, it does not deal with this problem. I am wondering if any of the posters to this Forum can provide a solution.
Here is my setup: I have various icons on my desktop (screen) and I am using a PC with Windows '98. In the upper right corner, I also have a group of Microsoft icons which allows me quick access to Microsoft programs.
Under Internet Explorer, I have http://forumosa.com as my default home-page. I have checked under the Tools Menu, and I have confirmed that this is the home-page listed.
However, I now have some sort of bug/virus, and when I load Internet Explorer, it goes to my default home-page http://forumosa.com and then a popup advertising various types of online services forces itself into a column-bar on the left side of the screen. There is a little X in the upper right corner of this colum-bar, and when I press this it goes away.
But after a minute or so I get a full-page popup which includes all these advertisements for various online services. This full page popup will not go away . . . . . . moreover it cannot be downsized, and it covers my entire desktop (screen) so that I do not have access to my icons.
If I hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete, I can see that this popup is there in my list of programs. However, if I select to terminate it, Internet Explorer is terminated altogether.
If I then restart Internet Explorer, it goes to my default home-page http://forumosa.com and then a popup advertising various types of online services forces itself into a column-bar on the left side of the screen. There is a little X in the upper right corner of this colum-bar, and when I press this it goes away. But after a minute or so I get this full-page popup . . . . . . and I am right back where I started. Is there any way to get this out of the system?
