Your spec. is way overkill if this is all you want to do!
You can get an off the shelf in Costco or anywhere else that will do everything you’re asking, except make you feel like a teenager again(!), for almost 50% less.
I started out with lower requirements then kept adding “well, I may as well…” upgrades on lol.
I don’t play games often because I end up getting sucked into them then feeling like I’m wasting too much time doing that (because that’s exactly what I end up doing!), but it’d be nice sometimes to play something or mess around with some particular software without being overly restricted by my computer. For most of my time here, I’ve been working from a shitty second-hand PC or my laptop.
And I have a bit of extra money sitting around at the moment because of some high-paying work, so I figured I’d treat myself!
I did see the Costco ones actually, but I wasn’t particularly impressed. Not enough lights!
I did the same last year! Kept chopping around and adding more of this and a bit better one of that. Laptop I was using finally went kaput just days before Christmas holidays, Costco had a sale so picked up an ASUS with an i5 and RTX4060 for 27K thinking I can return it if it’s not up to snuff, has done everything I need including playing older games at high settings, just kept it. It certainly doesn’t look impressive though, fancy case is not expensive either.
I’d also sign up to updates from Lenovo as they sometimes have systems with significant discounts, make sure you note down what you’re after and monitor the price on it over time, if you have time, as sometimes their listed discounts are just what they were selling at previously.
What did you buy in the end?! We need to see the fancy LED’s!
By the way, you can get adaptors for HDMI to DisplayPort if you so wish. The DisplayPort won’t take in the audio, but if you’re happy with that then there’s no need to change your choice of graphics card
Yeah, true. I already had two adapters sitting around at home and ended up having to use them because I bought a PowerColor Hellhound white instead — I mostly just meant that it would be convenient not to have to!
Part of that (and something I didn’t think about at the time) is that the adapters are pretty long and add around 3 cm to the back of the case, which made it a bit of a hassle squeezing it into the area next to my desk without putting too much strain on the ports/cables!
