Just buy it. Is it black? Which shop?
Yes, black, sounds like you might be acquainted with the guitar?
I can do a mystery reveal on the shop after I make an executive decision on the purchase.
Don’t really want to reveal the co-ordinates incase it got me pipped at the post.
It’s ok I don’t want black. I’m partial to peach

One I saw is not a squire it’s a made in China Fender - second hand I presume - I hadn’t even been aware that those existed so I was confused. Black with some white bits, this one: but half the price: fender modern player short scale strat 單單雙 落日漸層色 小尺寸 電吉他-金聲樂器音響
maybe its a Squier which was re-badged by the previous owner?
No a modern player is a genuine Chinese strat.
I guess fakes are a possibility, but if they were doing that then faking it into ‘made in China’ seems kinda unlikely.
Plenty of good stuff made in China. They often have access to woods unavailable to western manufacturers and cheap or slave labor. The only usual downside is that it’s harder to resell as it’s made in china ha
I made the purchase
13,300 NT with the amp, and the usual bits n bob’s thrown in (bag, spare strings, lead, allen keys, strap) He said its actually new.
He had squires as well I tried one out and it was like night and day difference. I forgot to try the made in US strats for comparison. This was love at first sight for me I hadn’t even intended to buy a guitar ![]()
Edit: This is the shop
Sounds like a decent deal!

Looks nice and good color.
By the way I like the look of this one, anyone know what it is ?
Depending on whether it’s an Epiphone or a Gibson, it’s either an Epiphone Dot, or a Gibson 335.

Looks mean and sinister… Thanks I’ll look it up.

Does the Vox go up to 11?

Theres a mad granny living downstairs so I can’t turn it up past 1… I got vox because my life long dream - when I was 16 - was to own an AC30 and this looks like one that got hit with a shrink ray

I did some more research on it - as the price is definitely too good to be true. According to discussions of the serial number and made in China stickers on the fender forums it is a ‘fake fake’. Apparently China was flooded with fake fenders made by non approved sources so Fender also started making fakes to try to compete with those, but only for the Chinese market. Then the other actors agreed to start policing and shutting down the copies which are sold under other brand names now, and when that happened Fender stopped making its own ‘fake fakes’.
This is brilliant news for me as in the reverse twiddle of the double negative I seem to come out with a genuine fender for almost no money whatsoever. Its amazing the power of that one word ‘China’ written on the back of the head for bringing the price down.
In any case its really nice. It sounds like a piano the notes are so clear. I previously owned a made in Mexico Telecaster and this one is way nicer than that (sorry old tele but it’s true).
It sounds like a piano
This isn’t really a good thing. You can’t shred the star spangled banner sounding like a piano. ![]()
For intermediate level guitar I might suggest some japanese brands (ESP and all that) around the 10,000nt price range. I would still suggest a fret level though in any case because at that price range they sure as hell aren’t going to level them at the factory.
I grew up using an Aria Pro and it is a great guitar. I like it better than Fender.

I’ve been using a badly made five stringed acoustic for the last few years - don’t ask - so piano is a huge step up for me. I’m also mostly into clunky country and western rather than shredding. Like I didn’t even try the overdrive channel on the Vox: looks ok, sounds ok on clean, purchase.
Bit of another issue now: apparently 12 straight hours of noodling on the guitar was a bit of a miss step for the fingers.
