Bye bye Warner Village?

Was there today and noticed that all of the signs have been changed to “Vieshow Cinemas”.
Their website is here.
Anyone know what happened?

They probably didn’t make money … and now we’re screwed … no more first runs … not that it matters because I’ve been probably twice in the time since Warner opened … I predict that the area will become some kind of nightmarket type …

yeah the one in tienmu changed to miramar a while back

They could change them into KTV’s

I think this topic has been done before. That change isn’t so new.

No screwed. You can still get first runs at Cinemark at the living mall. Only difference is that the seats don’t make your ass hurt and the popcorn isn’t stale.
Yarg. Even thinking about warner villiage’s popcorn makes me sick. Yuck.

I’m pretty sure it was still warner village when I went to see Pritege (sp?) last week.

Hm, if true, I wonder what will happen to my corporate movie coupons :o

You get access to the KTV …

There’s always the cinemas at Breeze Center.

Taiwan public is unreliable … the only constant is nightmarkets, beef noodles, sojamilk and fried breadsticks, deep fried chicken and chou tofu … oh, KTV’s, sleeping and watching re-run news … forgot (window) shopping and overspending on their creditcard … lots of international franchises have failed here …

I can’t imagine Yonghe Doujiang being a big hit in Zwankendamme, b/p. Your point?

Zwankendamme? Where the hell is that?

My point is that the Taiwan market, although it’s called mature, in fact is a very difficult place to do business because Taiwanese want something different every two weeks … except for their traditional things … it’s not yet internationalized completely … it’s just curiousity.

As for a fact, we have soya milk and soya ‘yoghurt’, pudding/dessert for more than 15 years in Belgium, and it’s a big hit in Belgium. Soya ‘yoghurt’, fermented soya milk in many flavours is still to be discovered in Taiwan … limited shelf life and high import duties prohibit import to Taiwan and I don’t think it would be a hit, although through the right marketing it could.

Taiwanese go for anything that is called ‘healthy’ … but it’s just make believe … on the other hand they go for lot’s of stuff that’s unhealthy, deepfried chicken and stuff … but they don’t like to eat fries that much, as it’s ‘unhealthy’, which is a misconception, it’s as ‘unhealthy’ as all the other deepfried things to buy on the street … plus, there is no control on the frying oils these people use, and the public has no idea what they are eating … well, I’m off-topic now …

Going back to the original post … In guess the movie theaters don’t do well because people can’t bring their lunch or beef noodels, fried chicken and chou tofu in … it’s not ‘nightmarket’ enough, just a thought …

The movie theaters are not going anywhere at warner village. My source tells me that they were just bought out by another theater chain. Thats all.

Did we say they were going? Some of us are just sarcastic, and are just guessing, explaining why they were renamed and sold …

Yeah, we’re aware of that. It’s just that the standards at Warner Village, which had already dropped significantly, are now likely to drop even higher, seeing as they’ve been bought out by a local chain. :frowning:

It has changed before mid of October.
