Cable Guy?!

I’m paying a few hundred NT a month for my cable here. All of a sudden, the cable guy and my (non-English speaking) landlord came peeking in and said that I was watching cable illegally! The cable guy said that if I wanted to continue to watch cable, I need to pay him $5000NT for 6 months of it. This is about $4000NT for the cable and $1000NT for cable hookup. Very odd!

Any experiences or suggestions would be great.
Thanks.

Who have you been paying several hundred NT dollars a month to watch the illegal cable?

If you were paying for an illegal service, and now are being pressured to cough up cash to install and enjoy the legal version, it seems to me that the person you were paying has some explaining/compensating to do.

I’ve just been paying my bills to my Taiwanese landlord for the rent, Cable, and Electricity.

I’ll see if I can find someone to translate for me.

Sorry man, sounds like you got done.

You definitely got done. I said elsewhere (where you also posted on this issue) that it’s likely your landlord who screwed you. I would strongly suggest you make him pay. If he won’t, move.

Sounds like your cable guy found the illegal splitter your landlord plugged on. Of course you did it… damned foreign crooks. stealing cable TV lol

Cable TV is fixed at NT$600 per month by law.
