Am I the only person that finds cake’s avatar offensive? I really hate to start my day off being flipped off repeatedly.
I have no problem with it.
I can’t see cake’s avatar so I don’t know if it’s offensive or not. Can you see cake’s avatar?
He’s making a “political statement”… :wanker:…and since its ridiculing President Bush, thats hip & groovy… :beatnik:
Oh… it’s the one of Bush giving someone the finger, is it?
Yeah, well, I don’t find it offensive per se, but I think …,no, I know, I REALLY like Mordeth’s avatar.
I find cake offensive. He should have been banned a long time ago. Instead, lightweights like The Chief get banned for being silly while cake gets away with being a damn right offensive, hurtful and dispicable lowlife.
Do you intend to provide any evidence for your assertion? I find cake to be a fine counterbalance to the people he challenges.
Oh, and his avatar is slightly amusing.
And it doesn’t repeat nicely, it just jumps back to the start, It should be repeated and reversed so it makes one long continious movement. Look at IrushStu’s, or mod lang’s or that bouncy boobies ones. They repeat without a jerky seam.
Even Maoman’s repeats nicely, and I assume he made that himself, it being his dog. It’s not easy to get that to repeat seamlessly. Cake’s would be easy.
I find cake’s avatar hilarious. I love it! But I hate Bush, so maybe that’s why.

But using the words cunt and fuck as a substitute for commas within sentences is really annoying, offensive, and I don’t like it. the chief can be a good read, but his tough guy kind of posts don’t do anything for me. Back when I was a teenager, maybe I would have liked it better. I just don’t think intelligent grown ups should have the need to use profanities so damn much.

Many of his posts (at me) have been deleted by moderators. But lets just say being called a cunt and being name called because of my former profession show the guy up to be a complete dick.
So it isn’t mature and intelligent to use profanity but it is hilarious to have an avatar flipping you off every few seconds?
Shouldn’t the avatar in question be posted here for reference?
I find dubya’s smirking laughter highly offensive (like a rapist laughing at his victims), but I’m willing to tolerate it in favor of free speech.
Woo Hoo! problem solved! I found that if I ignore cake, I don’t see his avatar.

Seriously, I can see your point. It’s a good one, and it’s well taken. This said, I think there is a difference between avatar and posting style. You can have an offensive avatar for all care, and if you write nice thoughtful posts I will still appreciate what you have to say. On the other hand, you can have the best avatar, but if you use profanities in your posts in excess, I will lose interest because I don’t think profanities are a very thoughtful way to express yourself. Still, you have a good point and all things considered, I stand corrected. Some people find the avatar offensive, and that speaks volumes.
But I still find it funny…
Note that I didn’t mean to say that the chief isn’t intelligent. If anything, he sounds quite smart to me, and if he layed off the profanities, I would appreciate his posts a lot more.
That’s a load of shite. I sometimes have to think for fucking AGES before I can decide which profanity best suits the goddamn situation.
Is there somewhere where you can see who is banned, and possibly why?
Recent guys who have been banned I’ve never particularly found offensive. Granted I’ve been offline for a few weeks, but it seems as if banning folks is becoming a bane to posting.
Just curious.

It can’t be easy with such a limited vocabulary. And that nervous twitch has got to be annoying. I’m sure it makes you crusty all the time.

If you could see the Flame Forum where the stuff that got them banned or suspended (there is a diff) is kept, I’m fairly sure you’d understand in most cases. It’s often a sudden breakdown in judgment (and often under the alkafluence of inkahol), with racist, homophobic, ethnic or other slurs in quite the explosion. In other cases, it’s a number of unacceptable instances over a period of time, with the poster ignoring repeated warnings by mods or admins.
Note that one egregious example is often enough for a suspension. Suspensions aren’t such a big deal, btw – a few days to a week or two. Enough to let sb know the rules mean something.
Do you find it offensive because it makes GWB look so foolish? As someone pointed out, it is BUSH not cake who is giving us the finger. Whether I think Bush is an ass or not, it is still a funny avatar. I mean there’s the President of the US flipping us off! That’s not presidential behavior, it’s irreverent, and funny.
