Campari (and soda)

Does anyone else here love to drink Campari and Soda?

It’s available in the bars, but where can I buy myself a bottle of Campari?

I checked Jason’s in 101 and didn’t find any.

If you know of a liquor store where I can buy a bottle, please let me know! Thanks!

And therein lies a potential answer. If you are friendly with any of the bar staff at you local watering hole, you could ask them to order a bottle for you next time they place an order with their supplier. Ideally, you don’t want to be paying anything more than cost price. I’ve done this once myself - worked fine. If you don’t have any contacts, find someone that does!

I’d also suggest you check out Carrefour, as they seem to have a fairly good selection of drinks - you never know…

That’s my drink of choice whenever I fly! (Ask the hostesses on Singapore Airlines!) I buy it right here in Taoyuan City too!

Cheers! :bravo:

I love Campari. I was able to find it at different liquor stores. There’s plenty of 'em around.

I love Campari Orange (Campari & o range juice) and Negronis (Campari, Gin, Sweet Vermouth). Will have to try Campari Soda.

Many of the foreign food retailors in TianMu have it. Some of the “Drinks” have it.

If you like campari & soda, you’ll like Negroni even better - Red Vermouth, Campari & Gin, 2 parts, parts & 1 part Gin. Slice off a lemon peel bend it in half and light the oil with a match as you drop it in your drink. It’ll tast good & impress your date at the same time

I drink Negroni’s all the time and have never heard of lighting the orange peel. I’ll have to try it.

Normally Negroni is equal parts of everything; I tend to like it with a bit less Campari, maybe even a bit less vermouth. I don’t make it myself too much so I haven’t tried proportioning.

I’ve seen recipies that ask for equal parts and some that ask for more vermouth and campari. Since it’s an Americano with some Gin, I like to go light on the Gin as too much makes the drink ‘hot’. Yeah, you’re supposed to use an orange peel.

For any drink that calls for a twist, you can burn it. I ran into this at a 1 star in France an copied it since it.

I’ll try burning the peel; it seems like fun. I’m not sure how it’ll change the taste. I think only the bitters dissolve in the drink, the outer fragrance of the peel is probably only for smell, still important.

It seems that many people make Negronis with less vermouth and campari than gin. I was searching around and came across the Negroni Perfect. I’ve had plenty of Martini Perfects (sweet and dry vermouth). The Negroni Perfect sounds good.
