Campsites in Taiwan

There’s a thread about it here:

[forumosa.com/taiwan/viewtopic.ph … 327#880327](Hei Long Tan (黑龍潭) Info Needed

But I’d like to post details about Heilongtan in the main camping thread, because I had a great time there a few weeks ago.

I think Heilongtan is probably the best campsite in Northern Taiwan. It’s in Pinglin, about 30 minutes from the town.

The campsite is very big, with different areas, so you can get some privacy. When we went on the first weekend of the summer holidays there were quite a few people there, but few enough that we were able to have a large area to ourselves with the next nearest tent about 50M away.

There’s plenty of grass, trees and an excellent swimming river right there.

There’s flush toilets, hot water showers, sinks and running water scattered around the campsite.

It costs 100 per car, 100 per tent and 50 per person. You can rent tents, but they’re pretty old A-frames.

To get there from Pinglin, follow the 42 (head under the freeway) to just past the 13KM mark (about 20 minutes). Then you turn off to the right and follow the little wooden signs in Chinese - 黑龍潭 - for about 10 minutes. Phone is 26656038.

I forgot to take photos, but here’s a few I found online:
