I had always assumed that children of foreigners on ARC, without Household Registration, could not attend public school. But, what if parents do want to put their children into public school? Can they do it?
Yesterday, I visited a school near our new house. It has low student numbers so we don’t need to move household registration to the area to attend, and the school is public but could be described as “progressive”, and one that long-time residents of Taiwan might consider acceptable for their children. It just got me thinking, can you choose to attend public school with residency but not citizenship? Any experience or knowledge to share?
I thought I read somewhere that children must attend school in Taiwan. So if you cant afford a western school they would have to be enrolled in a Taiwanese public school. But either way they must attend school if they are of a certain age. I thought anyway.
They can attend school in Taiwan as I know a SA couple who has a son who attends public elementary school, Your kid also gets the benefit that if you want to home school you don’t need permission(from the local school?).
