Can I bring dried fruit to the US from Taiwan?

Heading back to the US for a trip soon, and I want to bring some back dried fruits (guava, sour plums 酸梅, etc) for some Taiwanese friends.

I heard that US Customs now doesn’t allow you to bring food of any kind…but I heard that second-hand. Anyone know about this? I brought back a box of cakes last year, but can’t even remember if I declared it, but I’m wondering if anyone who has traveled back has noticed stricter controls, inspections, etc,

Thanks in advance.

Generally dried fruits are OK as long as they are not citrus. We always bring dried plums and other stuff back from Taiwan and never had an issue. It should be pre-packaged stuff in a sealed bag. This thread may be helpful: chowhound.chow.com/topics/353902
