Can you cut off your own work permit?

Can anyone tell me:

  1. Can i cut off my own work permit? If so, where?

and;

  1. If the company will not cut off my work permit, can i still become a student and study on a student visa?

Any information on or experiences of this would be greatly appreciated.

Who applied for the work permit? They have the authority to end it, by initiating some sort of cancellation process.

On the other hand, if the work permit becomes due, and is not renewed, then of course it will expire . . . . . .
