So I got this e-mail for a Canadian cooking contest … while I’m not Canadian nor is my partner … I din’t know Canadians had their own food … well, apart from moose, no, not chocolatemoose :roflmao: and, they even have their own Canadian Chef?
Good Canadian cooking is basically just modern American or European style cooking using quality local ingredients. As you said, the local game meats form the basis of its identity, but there are also First People (PC Canadian term for natives) dishes, and French Canadian dishes. Then, there are quality local products such as wild salmon, arctic char, and maple syrup, plus the usual artisanal breads, cheeses etc.
Don’t spoil his fun! Its not too often that a BELGIAN gets the chance to pooh-pooh another country’s victuals. This is the country of mayo on chips and over-strong sickly shite beer, after all! Cut them some slack, poor bastards!
