Canadian import duty

From what I can tell, any goods over 20CAD is taxed at 5%? Is this correct?

$20 seems shockingly low to start taxing import duty on. 5% isn’t too bad though.

My 3rd biggest market. 7.5% of my sales. Still small compared to UK and US but still important for me right now.

Looks about right, and you did get the info from a good source. Canadians pay a lot of taxes, not as high as Europe (especially Scandinavia) but generally we are taxed more than in the US. On one hand I don’t mind because I think the money often (though not always, of course) goes to good uses like subsidizing my PhD, universal health care, and other social programs.

Some of my Amazon packages from outside Canada that have been over $20 have been taxed, but not all. Some of them were labelled as gifts even though that wasn’t the case, probably to avoid the taxes…
