Canadian with a couple quick questions about visa exempt entry

Quick question aout the visa exempt entry. I made a trip to Taiwan about a year ago and plan to go back soon, so I did a quick check on the TECO website to see if there are any changes I should no about. For Visa exempt entry under requirements it states ‘3.non-criminal record and not prohibited by the local authorities to enter the R.O.C.’’ Im assuming/hoping they mean criminal record in Taiwan and not in Canada as I dont want my wild night at the strip club with the boys public display of drunkeness to affect my next trip to the fine country of Taiwan. I can’t remember if this was on the site a year ago. If they are talking about a record in your home country would they be able to verify or would it be like check yes or no box under criminal record. Also are they more strict about return flight tickets now? They never asked me last time.

There’s no box to check for visa exempt entry. Just show up. I highly doubt systems are integrated to the point where a minor offense will show up. It’s not like he’s on an interpol list or has terrorist warrants out for his arrest.

Airlines are more strict, but I have to date never been asked for a return ticket by immigration. If you can get on the flight, you’ll have no problems entering.

The return ticket thing is a gamble.

I have flown to Taiwan 3 times…and 3 times they have asked to see a ticket leaving Taiwan. (last time I actually had an ARC, so did not need it, but the lady at the ticket counter at SFO wasn’t so sure and had to go verify it).

If you want no hassles, buy cheap one way tickets to the philipines on cebu pacific (spelling?) theyre like 60-75 USD a piece.

I was referring to the little entry card they make you fill out when you arrive.

Buying a cheap one way ticket to a neigboring country seems like the most comfortable option
