I know the stuff “from your ear” they show you is bunk. BUT I have had this done several times because my ears get full of nasties. And it has ALWAYS helped.

Is there any place in Taipei where one can have this done?

I tried this procedure and thought it was ok. I live in a small town and found at my local night market. These guys make their way around the Island and hit different markets all the time. So if you don’t mind a carny holding a flame to your head, give it a bash!

One of my ears got stuffed up a few years ago. I finally went to a doctor, who used a rounded metal implement to dig lots of gunk from my ear. (This was not a pleasant experience and made me very nervous.) When I expressed my surprise at how much there was and objected that I do clean my ears, he told me, “Don’t worry. It’s not your fault. Foreigners are just naturally greasy people.” :?

Asians and Caucasians have totally different ear wax. Caucasians have, as you know, sticky, icky and yellow ear wax, Asians have dry flakey grey ear wax.
