In Taichung a few months back and saw a white guy pull up and get off his scooter with a newborn. Stopped the car, wound down the window and asked if he realized how irresponsible he was being.
Basically he told me it was none of my business. Well, he was probably guilty and stuck for what to say and just said that, but I’m afraid I was rather rude in return.
Anyway (a) if that guy was a Forumosan and reading this, than you really are a fuckwit, I haven’t changed my mind. And (b) I think it’s the duty of every citizen to take this transgression up every time they see it… for some reason, when both people involved are foreigners, there seems to be a particularly pressing duty.

(Oh here in Lotus Hill I once saw a guy driving a car holding a baby on his lap. Do you think slow strangulation would be a reasonable penance for such atrocious behaviour?)

I would just make it mandatory that his car was fitted with baby seats in the first place if I knew that he had a car and a child. I would have a police force if I were in charge and would only employ police that actually worked for a living. I would also take the guy’s license away if he wasn’t responsible enough.
