this entire record is horny for cars, my favorite tracks are ‘between days’ at 21:36 and the following ‘cruiser’ at 30:11
Some are car songs, some are driving songs.
“Jessica” is the greatest driving song, as witnessed by it being the opening for Top Gear. (“Midnight Rider” I always associated more with an old Confederate soldier like Jesse James.)
“Going up the Country” and “On the Road Again” by Canned Heat.
“Truckin’” by the Grateful Dead.
Car songs: “Long May you Run” by Neil Young (sort of both).
“Cadillac” by Bruce Springsteen.
Well, cars are meant to be cruised in, are they not?
if you’re talking road-tripping, cruising songs, you can’t go wrong with the following modest mouse albums:
this is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about
the lonesome crowded west
Hey, you’re messing with our dad rock vibe…
are albums from 1993, and 1997 too contemporary? my dad listened to them, as well as pearl jam and nirvana, smashing pumpkins, etc.
actually all the albums i put in are over 20 years old, so they could well be dad songs now.
Just yankin’ yer chain, son.
i been got, ya old fart
Had these play back to back to back random in the car the other day. Fucking absolute joy of a drive.
In your long black limousine…
