Just seen this now as it’s linked to another thread. Is that tool an official government/police tool? The SMS reporting method on the official police website is 110聽語障人士報案專線-內政部警政署全球資訊網 (npa.gov.tw) and doesn’t allow the use of photographs. If it is a third party then their are obvious privacy concerns (not that the police too hot on protecting whistleblower’s identities…).
All this tool does is generate an SMS message in your SMS app and pre-populate the correct phone number. For the photo portion, it uploads it to imgur and attaches a link. You can test it out without sending the message if you’re curious.
I’m just wondering if we should just start writing random license plate numbers all over the sidewalk. This indicates a vehicle has been towed, maybe that might scare a few into not parking illegally.
I tried it a few times in Taichung. There was no response to the message and no action was taken on the reports.
If they towed cars like they repaved roads, no one would dare park illegally.
A fleet of red tow trucks with big signs on them, and at unannounced time they tow any cars parked illegally. Have them prowl around any given neighborhood.
I get automated responses to mine in New Taipei. Generally a minute or so later.
I’ve only made reports in Taipei, New Taipei, Yilan, and Kaohsuing. Each time I’ve received a message acknowledging my report.
Also, that person sent 5 reports within a span of 7 minutes, then took this screenshot. Maybe give them a minute to acknowledge?

Same…I guess the one place I thought police were actually responding to was just a coincidence that there weren’t any illegally parked vehicles blocking the entire outer lane of traffic. I thought something was wrong after reporting a location with vehicles with illegally parked vehicles on the sidewalk yet after passing by through the area hours later I didn’t see any tickets or anything placed on the vehicles…seems like the system is useless for Taichung?
So I called 110 today. Guy parked in front of my house, couldn’t get in. Police come and say oh since there’s no yellow line it’s ok. So I can just block entire houses as long as there’s no yellow line? Fucks sake. Useless fucks.
Late to work because of this and I still couldn’t get out after because the useless police fucker doesn’t even call the guy to have him move such that I can get out. Had to take a taxi because of some selfish asshat parking in front of the house. Great stuff. 10/10.
