Brother and sister

Oh, @Aikaili you got a tuxedo and a house panther too.

They are my flatmates cats but I get to enjoy them while working from home. The tuxedo is the boy and he has a sinus and some development problems. He is a weird little cat and keeps me laughing. He sneezes and I wish I could get the beast to blow his nose. I’m always washing linens around here. The panther - sister cat - was almost a tuxedo and has a tiny white patch of fur for underwear. She wanders the apartment and cries as if her leg is being cut off for attention.

This guy has a whole series, protecting a honeyeater nest in his backyard from eggs to hatchings. This is the last video when the baby birds finally take flight by the end.

I wish people would stop letting their pet cats outside.

I was amazed at how hefty he is considering his diet.

I would guess it’s because of his diet. Cats will adapt to, or even enjoy eating carbohydrates. But it gives them diabetes eventually. They don’t have the necessary biological machinery for dealing with it long-term.

Cats are supposed to eat meat. That’s what they’re designed to eat. In fact not just meat but whatever an entire animal contains (organs and all).

Indeed. I had a bit of an epiphany last year when our cat developed kidney disease, and I noticed that most of what’s in dry cat food is rice or other grains. I always knew they padded it out a bit, but it had never actually registered how little of it is meat. The cat is now eating chicken instead (I mean, all of the chicken, with plenty of fat), and doing fine.

The weak should fear the strong

Please be vigilant of the food you put outside. Your pets might want to have a bite. Emergency vet care is very expensive!

Cat logic…

The older one lies on my chest. No biggie since he has lost a lot of weight, barely 3 kilos plus, not even 4. But the young ones are 6 kilos each. I have figured my legs are numb not from the cold but from nearly 20 kilos on top.
