Yup, they do. Saw someone taking a duck for a walk the other day. Bring your cat to the park - it’s a great way to meet people.

I saw someone bring turtles, with a sweater around them. Do they not realize that reptiles do not thermoregulate?

Surely that’s exactly why they need a sweater? :slight_smile:

Anyway, the point of bringing a turtle to the park in a sweater is to take photos. And potentially to get girls bouncing around saying “好可愛喔!”

Point is sweaters provide heat because it insulates the body so that they get warm. Reptiles don’t really produce body heat, and so that’s why you have heat lamps for them. It means sweaters don’t do turtles much good…

Metabolic processes produce heat regardless of the organism in which they’re occurring. It’s just that reptiles do not attempt to use these processes to maintain body temperature at a certain setpoint. A sweater will work in pretty much the same way on a turtle as on a human.

Anyway, wasn’t this thread something to do with cats?
