Hi. One of our dehumidifyers gave up dehumidifying a few days ago. It’s fairly new, yet just beyond its guarantee-period, and it was quite expensive. I wonder whether it might be possible to repair it rather than either buying a new one or allowing the moist to settle into our pants & stuff.
Basically, two questions:
does anyone of you know a good appliance repair-shop in Tienmu, Beitou or Shihlin (or elsewhere …), or
do you know what might be wrong with it: it still runs, meaning the fan in the back turns and the heat-exchanger or whatever this thing is called becomes cool (I imagine the principle is the same as in an aircon, right?), but no water is condensating from it & dropping into the tank … any ideas?
Is there really no water condensating on the cooler ribs or do you just not see any dripping down into the tank? For the latter, maybe cleaning helps. The other case must be an interesting phenomenon… (Or is the temperature perhaps just not low enough?)
dl7und, thanks for your reply! No, it can’t be dirt as I cleaned it quite thoroughly - took it apart, cleaned the filter, cleaned the heat-exchanger thingy etc. …
And you’re right, I looked again and it seems there is a little water condensating, but it freezes up on the heat-exchanger, making it all white and frosty in some spots. So maybe the thing gets too cold? But why, and how do I get it to not to that? … Thanks! Xpet.
Hey, you might be on to something there … I haven’t opened the back yet, just peeked in to check whether there was any movement. Will do that asap and report on the progress, thanks! Xpet.
dl7und, I still owe you an answer to finalize this thread: I opened the thing up last weekend, thinking you might be right and there might be too much dirt & dust blocking the air-flow, but that was not the case. I had the impression that the culprit was some switch that’s attached to the cooling-liquid (?) tank (humidity sensor? temperature sensor?), because it kept switching on & off in short intervalls as soon as the machine was switched on. Threw it out Saturday as we’re clearing house to get ready for our move … Thanks for your help! Xpet.
