I’ve got a friend who is releasing a new album this summer, and he wants to get the CDs pressed and packaged in the USA. He then wants to send them to me to promote him over here in Taiwan.
I am trying to find out if it would be less expensive to have just the CDs pressed in the States, then send them over to me so I can get them packaged over here. Or even do the whole process over here, meaning the CD pressing and the packaging together. Anyone know of any businesses like this? TIA!
I’m not sure about getting CDs pressed here, but as fas as the jewel casing goes, you can find them at a shop near the Guanghua Digital Plaza. Go to Zhongxiao Xinsheng Exit 1 (the exit for Guanghua Digital Plaza) and then walk to Xinsheng South Road, turn left (towards the Guanghua Digital Plaza) and keep walking, and the shop will be on your left side.
IIRC standard CD cases were NT$6 and DVD cases NT$4, but they usually gave a discount if you bought more than 100. They have all kinds of other ones too like CD slim cases, etc.
There’s another place in the basement of the NOVA building near Taipei Main Station but I think they’re a bit more expensive.
Why don’t you promote it online? Hard to sell CDs these days.

About promoting it online, my friend is just getting started and neither of us have previous experiences doing this. We discussed the online option, but then we would need to think about how to receive funds. Do you know much about this? I know about services such as Paypal, but that’s about it. Personally, I’m not a big fan of ebay or paypal simply because of the ridiculous fees they charge nowadays. If you have any advice, I’d love to hear it. Thanks for the suggestion and any info!
Most singers but a feeder(one or two songs) online, if it is good it will go viral, take that attention and market it. Take that attention and start doing some small shows, eventually things will work out. Gotta change with the times.
