CD racks

Has anyone seen a particularly good selection of CD racks (cabinets, shelves, rotating stands, etc.) in Taipei? Any particularly snazzy designs, for example?

IKEA has tons of different CD racks

Thanks, I’ll check that out. I’ll be sure to take a map and compass to find my way back out of the store, though. :stuck_out_tongue:

I went to IKEA, and didn’t really find what I wanted in CD racks. Does anyone have any other suggestions for good places to check out? Thanks!

Hands Talung at Breeze Center has quite a few CD racks, though nothing really snazzy (IMHO).
Otherwise try big furniture malls, they may stock such items, too.

Surprisingly, my wife and I recently found a couple of decent CD racks at Carrefour. I am not sure if they would be snazzy, per se, but they look better than most that I have seen, recently. Heavy and sturdy.

I liked what I got at Hola in Neihu, but given the size of my CD collection, I prefer my CD rack designs to be efficient and functional, as opposed to “snazzy”. I paid around 1400NT for something that held almost 200 CDs, I think. I was never really impressed with Ikea’s designs – they looked nice in the catalog, but they didn’t hold much, they were too much of a hassle to set up and they were often made of rather chintzy material.

I remember a few interesting looking CD racks along furniture alley (Wenchang Rd. / 文昌街). High class stuff though.

Exactly. Cheap, unfinished pine, that can only hold 35 CD’s, without any styling, for $400NT doesn’t really do it for me. They had a lot of others but most were low quality, not cheap, and primarily tall vertical units that would fall over in a quake or when my cat from hell jumps on it. I don’t really want to have to mar it or the wall with an L-bracket, either.

Thanks to all three above posters – I’ll go check these places out.

I’ve got a couple i don’t use anymore, that I’ll give you real cheap. They hold 60 CDs each - stand up ‘tower’ style. I’ll take a pic, if you’reinterested.

What about B&Q?

B&Q not that I saw. I also do not like the ones in IKEA.

Carre4 I wil try and HOla too. I need to file a few hundred dead cds.

Just stopped at Hola tonight – They had 2-3 with a bit more style than IKEA’s. One was a tower style, welded black iron verticals, with woven cane shelves, sans individual slots for CDs. It looked nice, and was 108cm high, 19cm square, for $1290. It felt solid. I might get that.

Another was a squatter, rotating rack with four faces, and individual slots for the CDs. 24cm tall, 24cm across without CD’s. The CD’s stick halfway out, so add the width of a CD to that. It was only $899, but unfortunately was IKEA-like fake wood, and the plastic ribs creating the slots were weak-looking; many on the display model had broken. I’d rather pay twice that and get good quality, but haven’t found the right store, I guess.
