Cell Phone Sabotage warning

This morning at about 11:00 am, I got a cell phone call from an “unknown” number. I answered and heard the sound of breaking glass, much like one would here if a rock were thrown at your window. When I looked at the screen on my phone, it looked like it had a broken hole in it. My phone is a Motorola flip phone so this prank must be aimed at that style of phone to be able to change the wallpaper setting. The problem is, I can’t reset it… Ya, I know, funny shit. But wait until it happens to you. I guess that I’m off to my carrier, Chunghua Telecomm, to ask them to fix it. I really don’t mind cell spam but this is a step too far. If it happens to you, I invite you to let me know so that we can unite and insist that Chunghua and/or the local do-nothing police will investigate. I guess I’m a bit pissed about it. If it happens to you, my guess is that you will be too. Contact me.

Brrriiing brrriiiiing!

i feel for ya…BUT AT THE SAME time thats pretty kewl…

So, a phone virus? Why do companies like Motorola allow their phones to be susceptible to viruses?

Because Motorola is shit. I had bought the V3 awhile back and that was the most expensive phone I’ve bought to date, and it went shit on me within 6 months. NEVER AGAIN will I buy from them…

I’ll believe this when i see it.

Dunno, but if it’s a smart phone it could be due to the operating system and thus affect any brand.

Enigma… seriously… what happened for real? It sounds so spooky. Are you on something, seeing red elephants in the sky? Could there be no other reason behind?

It happened for real. No scotch nor funny smoke - just simply pisses me off. I am a little surprised that nobody else is having it happen. I’ve had this number for 5 yerars and get my daily doses dose of spam but never anything like this. It was too wet today to drive up to Chunghua to get it fixed so I’m not even sure yet if it is fixable. BTW it’s a Motorola V226 flipphone.

Enigma, I’m sure not even Motorola have heard of this.
That flip phone is not a smart phone, making it much more difficult to make something like this happen. Can you access your menu at all? I can tell you how to reset your phone. Also, can you take a photo of the wallpaper?

I guess someone that knows you and your phone # went to a ‘wallpaper’ website and paid a few $$ to pull a joke on you …

I’m not sure how to post a pic so if someone can assist with that problem, good on ya. The “broken window” screen shows on the main window, the outside screen and it even shows up when the phone is turned of. That is the part that really pisses me off because it’s not just a wallpaper change. It’s imbedded in the depths of my phone.
Now, to anyone who intentionally did this . . . . . . well, , well, well, I cant bad mouth you. Your know that’s against the rules here abouts. On the other hand, I have been considering options. Perhaps I can instruct my tech gurus to explode your phone in you pants pocket, spreading capsicum oil to very private parts. Perhaps I can have them intitate marriage vows in Iraq to an extrely ugly veiled semi-female that enjoys bestiality. My mind is totally rampant with these thoughts. I think destroying my phone was just a simple act causing me to go insane with visciousness.
God love y’all. I’m trying here. Really, I’m trying. The f***ing bastards that eat warts from toads. mmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmm mmmmmmmmmmm.

Well to show the pic here, I would just recommend taking a photo of it with a normal camera.
You didn’t say if you can access the menu. Can you? If so, I can help you reset the phone to factory settings.

You say it even shows when you switch the phone off??? How about when you remove the battery?

Sounds like the LCD glass is actually broken.

That reminds me of the time I was working for “M” Technical Support. Oh wait, I think I might have actually posted about this before. Let me see if I can find it…

Ahhh… here it is:
I used to work as technical support for a well known mobile phone company (beginning with M), and would get a lot of amusing calls. This one actually happened to my workmate though. Really makes you wonder.

This guy phoned up complaining that his phone kept beeping, no matter what he did. It had been doing this for like 3 days already.
The tech support guy asked him to change a few settings, press a few buttons, etc, but it just kept on beeping. He asked the guy to switch the phone off, but the guy said even that didn’t stop it. He said that even removing the battery had no effect Confused . Of course this made no sense at all, but you can’t really tell the customer they’re talking out of their arse.

Standard policy was to send the phone in and get it repaired for free under the warranty, so the tech support guy asked the customer to write down some details. The guy says that he doesn’t have a pen and that he needs to go to another room to get it (he’s using his mobile phone at the time, BTW). He walks out of the room and suddenly the beeping stops. No way!
The guy actually starts complaining about how typical it is that something starts working again once you phone up technical support.

He goes back into his living room and FINALLY notices that a little red light is flashing beside where it says “LOW BATTERY” on his smoke detector. Oops! Oops! Oops!
Well, looks like a couple of the replies were spot on. The screen looks like a picture of a broken screen but the phone folks tell me the screen is actually broken. If it weren’t that I know the brand is a total POS, I would be amazed that it would simply break while receiving a text message. Anyway, 2k to fix. A hard choice given I spent 5k for it a year ago.
