Changes to qualifications law?

Has anyone heard of any changes to the law? I’ve heard rumours that a four year degree is becoming the legal minimum, rather than the current (when I got my ARC) two year diploma and TEFL teaching certificate. (Paranoia is only bad if makes you irrational.)

I have a job and a valid ARC, good until Spring 2010 but I want to change schools and not have the headache of “grandfathering” i[/i]. There’s nothing wrong with the school, but as the saying goes, a change is as good as a rest.

Yes, I’ve searched for info but seen nothing. Yes, I’ve asked the government but getting answers from them is like pulling teeth. And yes, I’m working to finish a BA, but I’ll need one more year of savings at my current income to do it (There’s always some moron who “thinks” he’s being “helpful” by “suggesting” I go back to university, so don’t if that’s your “advice”.).

I thought a four year BA was the minimum…

Two year diploma and a TEFL cert. wtf is that?

Go back to school, don’t go back to school. Personally, I think “grandfathering” (especially outside of “efl/esl”) is the worst of your worries. But then again, :idunno: what do I know?

All I know is, as soon as I no longer have visa issues, teaching clown ass engrish is going to be the least of my priorities. I have some other options and can’t wait to take them up.

I had no problem when I got my last ARC in March and haven’t heard anything about this.

That’s good to hear, so thanks, though things can still change in two months.

Should I take it that your reply means you’re in the same situation, diploma plus TEFL and looking to upgrade?

Yes. I have an associates degree (2 year) plus a TEFL.
