Charities or Organizations for Learning Disabled Children

I would like to volunteer for an organization in Taipei which works with learning disabled children in Taipei. Does anyone have any suggestions of effective and reputable organizations or charities?

Most of my experience in directly working for these types of organizations (e.g., teaching, coaching, etc.) deals with more minor learning disabilities, and I suspect that I will need to stay in that lane as my legal experience which allowed me to help severely learning disabled children in the US will not be as useful here. Also, my Chinese is at a middle school level, which will limit how I can help, I’m sure. I would also like my kids to be able to volunteer as well, if possible.

Try the Eden Social Welfare Foundation (伊ē”øē¤¾ęœƒē¦åˆ©åŸŗé‡‘ęœƒ).

Thank you for the reference, and welcome to the forum!

Do you have any personal experience with this organization? If so, do you mind sharing them with me?

Also, I am not a Christian; do you think there will be any issues with me and my kids participating in this organization, which seems to have strong religious ties? To be clear, I have no problems with Christians or religion in general or with working with them: in fact religious organizations are often the strongest proponents of community based support. But sometimes organizations require volunteers to be believers.

I do not have any personal experience with the organization, however, I am aware they do have a more visible presence in Taiwan compared to other organizations, and they do sometimes have donation boxes set up at 7-11s.

I think it should be okay for you and your kids participating. Religion in Taiwan is mostly comprised of Buddhist/Taoist (~70%), non-religious (~18%), followed by Christianity (4%). If they insisted on everyone to be Christian, I think they would have trouble surviving as an organization!
