Chavez & F-16s - Attention Whore? Dangerous leftist? Madman?

Oh goodie, after the TI starts a war with the PRC and they launch 700 missiles at Taiwan.

We can look forward to the US coming to Taiwan and carpet-bombing Taiwan, ensuring none of its ineffective military equipments are captured.

Perhaps ROC should take the F-16 off Venezuela’s hands, just in case USA stops selling parts to ROC.

It’s only when I got to the end of that paragraph that I realised you weren’t talking about Bush.[/quote]

Me too.

Not moot at all. The Chinese or whoever Chavez is threatening to “share” his toys with will go over that aircraft with a fine toothed comb, and glean the info they need to copy it/modify it or whatever to their own aircraft. Do you recall that navy aircraft that collided with the PRC’s fighter a few years ago? It had to land on the island (name escapes me) in the Sought China Sea. You bet the Chinese were dying to get a look at that aircraft - it is equipped with lots of sensitive communications equipment/ spy equipment etc. I think the sailors probably jettisoned the most sensitive stuff before they landed, though.

The main thing about marketing is, people do not forget your brand name. Does not matter if mentioned positively or not.

Thanks Fred, you just sold another Braun toothbrush in Taiwan (and quarter a VW),

Many of those F-14s were flyable for quite some time after we cut off supplies. The Iranians were shooting down Iraqi fighter jets with Phoenix missiles (without even getting close to the Iran Iraq border) until the late 80s. The Iranians are actually the only airforce that ever used the Phoenix in anger. You also have to keep in mind that there wasn’t much of a risk that the Iranians would have given any of the F-14’s technology to a US adversary. The Iranians didn’t get along with the USSR so well.

The Iranians didn’t get along with the USSR AT ALL. While the U.S. is the “Great Satan”, the USSR was the “Lesser Satan”. Iran just wanted to be independent of both of the major Cold War powers at what was pretty much the peak of the Cold War. (OK, maybe the second peak, if you want to argue the Cuban Missile Crisis.)

American officials demand Israel provide explanations for how U.S.-made choppers sold to Israel ended up in service of Columbian drug cartel(who are working for the CIA).

If this was Syria they would be threatened with nukes.

The americans are probably pissed off because they never got their cut.

‘This week’s announcement that Venezuela will sell 12 million gallons of heating oil - at a discount - to help Massachusetts’ neediest citizens is part political theater to tweak the Bush administration, part PR campaign for Mr. Ch

Chavez’s rantings of late are sounding eerily similar to another proponent of national socialism in the 1930s. Although I am no fan of Pat Robertson, I think he was correct in calling for Chavez’s removal – by any means possible :bravo:

I do LOVE Freds postings. They make my day. I have been to busy to follow lately.
How about a newsletter? I really would appreciate that.
